Psychology and Physiotherapy Clinic

Psychological Services

At NOCI Clinique Inc., before beginning therapy with a new client, we conduct a psychological assessment whose purpose is to identify the patients’ problems as well as any factors which might contribute to their resolution or their perpetuation. Individual fact-based therapies are provided for a variety of difficulties:

  • Burnout,

  • Psychological distress,

  • Depression

  • Anxiety – phobia – panic attacks,

  • Trauma,

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD),

  • Chronic pain,

  • Pain during sexual intercourse,

  • Fatigue,

  • Marital issues,

  • Parental issues,

  • Relational issues,

  • Difficulty adapting to a chronic illness,

  • Social phobia,

  • Eating disorders.

The different therapeutic approaches which the members of our team utilize generally integrate components from cognitive-behavioural therapy. Specialized techniques such as interpersonal group therapy, the didactic method, dialectic behavioural therapy, mindfulness, schema therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) are those which are most commonly used by our professionals.

We are often called up to conduct therapy following a medical leave caused physical accidents or psychological problems. Thus, we are able to work with professionals from other disciplines as well as third party payers. Often, our psychologists collaborate with M. Dominique Gilbert, physiotherapist, in order to help our patients return to their active lives and regain confidence in not only their physical, but also their psychological capabilities.

We also conduct psychological assessments for:

  • Identifying functional limitations

  • Assessing residual symptoms and their effects on patients’ productivity or capacity for working

  • Estimating therapeutic progress to formulate therapeutic or administrative recommendations

  • Evaluating aptitude to serve as a law enforcement officer

The following services are not provided:

  • Assessment and treatment of children

  • Family mediation services

  • Psychosocial assessment in the context of a divorce

  • Assessment of parental capabilities

  • Assessment of academic acceleration cases
