Nayla Awada, Psy.D., Psychologist

After her undergraduate studies at McGill University, Dr. Awada obtained a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Montreal. During her academic career, she has trained in the midst of renowned interdisciplinary teams in the fields of health psychology and mental health, at the Anxiety disorder clinic of the Douglas Institute and at the Alan Edwards unit of Chronic Pain management of the Montreal General Hospital. She also sought to play an active role in research, and during her doctoral studies, Dr. Awada participated in several national and international conferences, as well as being the primary author of a chapter in the Wiley Handbook of Anxiety Disorders, in addition to a research article published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

A member of the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec, Dr. Awada is trained in individual therapy as well as group therapy. She joined NOCI Clinique in 2014, and has provided services in the evaluation and treatment of anxiety disorders, depression and relational issues. She is also qualified in the field of health psychology, namely in treating patients suffering from pain or chronic illnesses, as well as patients who wish to adapt to pain during sexual intercourse. Working with the psychologist Dr. Manon Houle, she has acquired experience in evaluating police force personnel, as well as forensic assessment pertaining to disability.

She welcomes both private consultations as well as evaluation and/or management mandates from the CCST and IVAC. She also receives mandates from insurance companies. She favors an integrative therapeutic approach strongly influenced by the Schema Therapy.

Taking great care to continue her professional training and enrich her clinical experience, Dr. Awada continues to obtain clinical supervision from Dr. Manon Houle, and regularly attends professional training workshops in various fields pertaining to her clinical practice.

She provides services mainly in French and English and speaks Arabic fluently.
